Ministry Objective
Chinese Christian Fellowship Church (CCFC) has been presented by God with the unique opportunity to develop its English ministry outside of, but in conjunction with, the Chinese Ministry. The right candidate will have the ability to work with the Chinese Ministry while at the same time develop and lead the English Ministry (EM) in accordance with the responsibilities outlined below.
This is a full time pastoral position shepherding a congregation of 40-60 regular members. Located in Wilmette, Illinois, the church is going through an exciting time of change and growth. The English Ministry, while still a part of CCFC as a whole, has been given the opportunity to develop a separate leadership team, make its own decisions and set its own direction. Restructuring such as this, within a Chinese church is unique and has given the church an opportunity to do something amazing under God’s leading.
The English Pastor at CCFC will provide edification to the English congregation through regular pulpit teaching, by equipping the leadership to aide in the various ministries, and in creating an environment for spiritual growth. Outreach to the community and building up of the existing community within CCFC will be done in accordance with the vision of God’s purpose for the English Ministry as discerned by the English Pastor and the English ministry leaders.
Pastoral Responsibilities (for the English Ministry)
1. Along with ministry leaders, develop and actively pursue a defined vision for CCFC
2. Coordinate the leaders of various ministries, which include Life Groups, English Fellowship, Youth Group, Family Fellowship, and future ministries, to insure that all ministries are inline with biblical truth and the ministry goals of the church
3. Train, develop, and equip members to become church leaders and active members in ministry in accordance with Matthew 28:19
4. Work to build relationships within the congregation of CCFC and those who are seeking Christ
5. Lead the English Ministry congregation and maintain open lines of communication between board, staff, and congregation
6. Prepare and preach God’s Word to the congregation regularly
7. Provide pastoral counseling as needed to the congregation
8. Supportive of the relationship with the Chinese Ministry currently being structured
Administrative Responsibilities
1. Work with the English board and leadership to build up the English Ministry with the goal of being self supporting
2. Participate in and / or lead regular staff meetings, board meetings, and other ministry meetings as needed
3. Lead by example in community caring and outreach
4. Maintain a minimum number of office hours at the church
Qualifications
1. Christian faith that is in complete agreement with the theological stance of CCFC
2. M.Div. degree, M.A. degree in theology, other equivalent or higher degree is strongly preferred
3. A minimum of 2-5 years experience in a pastoral ministry, preferably having experience working with Asian Americans
4. Fluent in English, conversational Chinese is helpful
5. Sensitivity to the Chinese culture
6. Evangelism and outreach experience and focus

2. Understand pastoral ministry as a calling from God
3. Have the heart to win unbelievers for salvation in Christ
4. Pray regularly for the congregation and for God’s direction
5. Have the burden to build up men and women into mature followers of Christ.
6. Fully uphold the theological stance and the doctrinal statement of CCFC
7. Pay sensible respect to the Chinese Ministry and have a burden to work with them under the goal of serving God
8. To be sensitive to and understanding of the diversity and possible conflicts within the congregation
Accountability
We believe that the Pastor will take his direction and vision from God; and is accountable to God. At the same time, we also understand that the Pastor is human and is subject to all the trials, struggles, and temptations that are common to all believers. As a result, the Pastor is directly accountable to the English Board; the English Board is accountable to the Pastor and English Congregation.
