Shades Mountain Independent Church is a non-denominational, biblically-based, 400+/- attendee church in Hoover, Alabama. We are currently seeking an experienced candidate to fill an Associate Pastor of Community Life position within our church.
Job Summary:
To execute the church’s vision for Biblical community by integrating and coordinating the life-stage ministries from children to youth to adults and seniors. To move both individuals and families from visitors to regular attendees to core members of the body by utilizing small groups, community groups, and other available ministries. To lead, supervise, disciple and equip the paid staff and lay leaders who direct the various community life ministries, i.e. children’s director, youth pastor, etc.
Job Qualifications:
• Is called of and dependent on God. Able to state a clear testimony of faith and embrace the doctrinal statement of SMIC. Qualified to serve as an elder according to the passages in 1 Timothy and Titus.
• Shares the core values of SMI including a dependence on prayer, a lifestyle of discipleship, a passion for the lost, a commitment to building Biblical community, a high view of Scripture, and a recognition that love fulfills all the law.
• Has demonstrated ministry leadership experience including the supervision of other staff and has achieved appropriate educational degree(s).
• Has demonstrated experience in:
o Managing, developing and equipping other leaders—both paid staff and lay leaders.
o Launching and growing fully-functioning small groups.
o Conceiving and executing creative and relevant evangelism ministry.
o Counseling and/or directing a lay counseling ministry.
