Job Duties:
1. Perform all duties of an ordained minister of the gospel; maintaining a high level of spiritual leadership and displaying proper influence and testimony.
2. Assist the Senior Pastor in planning, coordinating, overseeing, and evaluating the activities of the church.
3. Oversee the administrative functions of the church related to finance, personnel, and facilities maintenance.
4. Supervise ministerial and support staff as assigned.
5. Assist the Senior Pastor in planning, scheduling, and promoting church events such as revivals, conferences, seminars, etc.
6. Assist the Senior Pastor in public relations and community affairs.
7. Assist missions minister in the organizing, scheduling, and coordinating of missions activities in conjunction with the church budget.
8. Coordinate, develop, maintain, and implement the churchs administrative policies and by-laws.
9. Support the spiritual and physical needs of the congregation through counseling, hospital care, funerals and weddings.
10. Provide biblical advice and guidance to individuals as appropriate.
11. Responsibly manage the churchs financial resources according to the approved budgetary guidelines, utilizing the best accepted practices of accounting, and adhering to the highest ethical, moral, and biblical standards.
Qualifications:
• Testimony of saving faith and desire to serve Jesus Christ and a life consistent with
that testimony
• Has qualifications of an elder, according to I Timothy 3:1-7
• A call to serve in a pastoral ministry with a strong desire to evangelize and disciple
others for Christ
• Bible college, college, or seminary education preferred
• Agreement with and supportive of doctrinal statement of the Crossing Church
• Desire to help build a body of believers that is loving, caring and never wavering
from the truth of Gods Word while reaching others and growing in Christ
• Desire to successfully multiply effectiveness through building a team of ministers
Requirements/Responsibilities:
Leadership:
• Philosophy and ministry skills that complement those of the senior pastor.
• Skills and desire to work with senior pastor to provide vision and support to elders
and ministry team leaders as they lead the following ministries:
o Adult Ministry
o Congregational Care
o Christian Education (Sunday School, AWANA, Childrens Church, etc.)
o Outreach
o Facilities
o Finance
o Native Ministry
• Must be self-motivated, with strong organization and motivational skills
• Preach in senior pastors absence and/or for training; typically about five or more
times per year.
• Support the senior pastor and elders in various pastoral responsibilities (visitation,
training and mentoring potential elders, etc.)
• Work with senior pastor and ministry team leaders to ensure administrative details are
addressed.
• Work with pastor, elders and ministry leaders to ensure the above ministries inter act
and complement each other in growing the Body of Christ.
• Leadership gifts necessary to recruit, train, and build teamwork among various
ministries as needed.
• Ability to supervise volunteer staff, seeking to bring out the best in them, and
encouraging them to glorify God in their area of ministry.
Supervision/Mentoring:
• Directly accountable to Senior Pastor; meet on weekly basis
• Participate in bi-weekly Elder meetings
• Opportunity for interacting/mentoring with Elders and others
• Under overall supervision of the Senior Pastor & Elder Board
